Flying Geese Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Bright Pink: Cut ONE (1) 3 3/8″ square. (This will be flanked on all FOUR (4) sides, by the results of the Purple 2 7/8″ squares, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. It’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
- Bright Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- Purple: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will be flanked by the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Purple: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank all FOUR (4) sides of the Bright Pink 3 3/8″ square, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. It’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the Bright Pink 2 1/2″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Purple 2 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Purple 2 7/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 9 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (Each of these will be flanked on TWO (2) sides by TWO (2) the Bright Pink 2 1/2″ squares, plus FOUR (4) of the Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
