Paradox Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
- Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ square & with the results of the Rust 4 3/4″ squares to create FOUR (4) Split Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Rust: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ square and with the results of the Yellow 5 1/4″ square to create FOUR (4) Split Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Orange: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These will flank the results of the Dull Rust 2 3/4″ squares to create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners needed for this quilt block.)
- Dull Rust: Cut SIX (6) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 2 3/4″ squares as well as the results of the Orange 4 3/4″ squares to create the FOUR (4) corners needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Dull Rust 2 7/8″ squares & with the results of the Orange 4 7/8″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also help create the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square.
