Coronation Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Teal: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 7 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Purple: Cut FIVE (5) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 3/8″ squares, which will create FIVE (5) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Purple: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 4 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOURTEEN (14) 2″ squares. (These will flank the results of the Purple 2 3/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block. FOUR (4) of these will be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FIVE (5) 2 3/8″ squares. On the back side of the square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Purple 2 3/8″ squares, which will create FIVE (5) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are flanked by the the results of the Purple 2 3/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are flanked by the the results of the Teal 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)

- Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 4 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. (These will flank the results of the Blue 2 3/8″ squares & will help create the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FIVE (5) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Blue
2 3/8″ squares, which will create FIVE (5) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.) - White: Cut TEN (10) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Blue 2 3/8″ squares & the results of the White 2 3/8″ squares. FOUR (4) of these triangles are the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the the results of the Blue 2 3/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the the results of the Mint Green 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
