Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (precise 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Brown: Cut SIX (6) 1 3/4″ squares.
- Light Pink: Cut SIX (6) 2″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square.
- Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/4″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.
- Pink: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square.
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/4″ squares. (These will be paired with the Pink 3 1/4″ squares to make half-square triangles. You will end up making EIGHT (8) half-square triangles, but you only need SEVEN (7) half-square triangles for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles. (You only need ONE (1) of these triangles to make this quilt block.)
- To create the “handle” for the basket, you can either embroider it with a back-stitch (or whatever stitch suits your fancy) or sew it on with your sewing machine with a running stitch on your quilt block.
