Maypole Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (precise 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square.
- Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. On the back side of the square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with ONE (1) of the White 3 7/8″ squares which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
- Pink: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square.
- Pink: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. On the back side of the square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with ONE (1) of the White 3 7/8″ squares which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square.
- Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. On the back side of the square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with ONE (1) of the White 3 7/8″ squares which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
- Purple: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square.
- Purple: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. On the back side of the square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.
- White: Cut FOUR (2) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Yellow, Pink, Blue & Purple 3 7/8″ squares. Which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. All together they’ll be the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/3″ x 6 1/2″ rectangles.
While making your Half-Square Triangles you only need ONE (1) of each color for this quilt block. However, do not waste the other Half-Square Triangles, those are called Bonus Half-Square Triangles! Collect them & add them to your stash! Use them whenever you’re needing to fill in some gaps, or when a pattern calls for Half-Square Triangles, you’ll already have some ready and waiting!

If you make TWELVE (12) “Maypole Quilt Blocks,” you’ll end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
