Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Red: Cut TWENTY (20) 2″ squares. Then cut each square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 3 1/4″ squares, which will create TWENTY (20) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWENTY (20) 1 1/2″ squares. (These will flank the results of the Red 2″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FIVE (5) 2″ squares. (These are the center’s of each of the “stars” in this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 4 1/2″ squares. (These are the top & bottom row square’s. As well as the left-hand & right-hand square’s for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are flanked by the results of the Red 2″ squares, which will create TWENTY (20) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)

If you make TWELVE (12) “Cluster of Stars Quilt Blocks,” you’ll end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.

- Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ square & the results of the Blue 5 1/4″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
