Indian Mat Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

• Red: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will make EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles will be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
• Red: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 4 7/8″ square on TWO (2) sides & they’ll flank the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares on the remaining TWO (2) sides. As needed for this quilt block.)
• Red: Cut TWO (2) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired on ONE (1) side with the results of the White 4 7/8″ square as needed for this quilt block.)
• Red: Cut TWO (2) 2 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the results of the White
  4 7/8″ squares, plus the 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
• Red: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
• White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Red 2 7/8″ squares which will make EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles will be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
• White: Cut TWO (2) 4 3/4″ squares. Then cut each square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square.
• White: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/2″ squares. (These are the two centers of this quilt block.)
