Cross & Crown Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Purple: Cut TWO (2) 1 7/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles. (These will flank the results of the White
3 7/8″ squares. These will help create the “Cross” & be the center of this quilt block.) - Purple: Cut ONE (1) 1 7/8″ x 10 3/8″ rectangle. (This will flank the results of the White 3 7/8″ squares. This will help create the “Cross” & be the center of this quilt block.)
- Gold: Cut FOUR (4) 4 1/2″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank on TWO (2) sides the results of the White 3 7/8″ squares. They will also create the “Crown” of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These will be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 1 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank one ONE (1) end, both the Purple 1 7/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles & the Purple 1 7/8″ x 10 3/8″ rectangle. These will help create the “Cross” & be the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank on TWO (2) sides the results of the Gold 4 1/2″ squares. Which will create a “frame” around the “Crown” of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank on TWO (2) sides both the Purple 1 7/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles & the Purple 1 7/8″ x 10 3/8″ rectangle. These will also help create the “Cross” & be the center of this quilt block.)
