Mountain Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Mint Green: Cut TWELVE (12) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 3/8″ squares which will create TWENTY-FOUR (24) Half-Square Triangles.)
- Mint Green: Cut SIX (6) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the White 2 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles. Once they’re sewn together with the White 2 5/8″ squares they’ll create the center of this quilt block.)
- Mint Green: Cut TWO (2) 5 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the center of this quilt block which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWELVE (12) 2 3/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Mint Green 2 3/8″ squares which will create TWENTY-FOUR (24) Half-Square Triangles.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 2 5/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the results of the Mint Green 2 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles. Once they’re sewn together with the White 2 5/8″ squares they’ll create the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 5/8″ squares. (ONE (1) of these squares is the very center of this quilt block. The remaining FOUR (4) of these squares are paired with the Quarter-Square Triangles. Once they’re all sewn together they’ll create the center of this quilt block.)
