On Cloud Nine Bonus! Pathways Quilt Block!

Pathways Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Pathways Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Peach: Cut TWO (2) 5 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 5 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block when it’s sewn together.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 5 3/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Peach 5 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block when it’s sewn together.)
  • Rust: Cut FIVE (5) 1 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Gray 1 1/2″ squares which will create ONE (1) Nine-Patch. All together they’ll create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Rust: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/2″ x 5″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Gray 1 1/2″ x 5″ rectangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Gray: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Rust 1 1/2″ squares which will create ONE (1) Nine-Patch. All together they’ll create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Gray: Cut EIGHT (8) 1 1/2″ x 5″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Rust 1 1/2″ x 5″ rectangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)

Pathways Quilt Block Diagram

The best way to sew this quilt block together is to star with the special elements together first (Half-Square Triangles & the Nine-Patch). Then sew the FOUR (4) rectangles together. Next sew the upper THREE (3) sections together, same goes for the center section & the bottom section. Finally sew all THREE (3) sections to each other!

Sew TWELVE (12) “Pathways Quilt Blocks” to end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished & 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.

On Cloud Nine: Double L Quilt Block Tutorial

Double L Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Double L Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.
  • Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles.
  • Brown: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Brown: Cut ONE (1) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangle.
  • Brown: Cut TWO (2) 2 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangles.
  • Brown: Cut ONE (1) 2 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ rectangle.
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares.

Double L Quilt Block Diagram


Sew the Snowball Corners for the Entire Quilt Block together first.
Then follow the rectangles below to sew the rest of the quilt block together. The upper right-hand & the lower left-hand sections are the same. So are the upper right-hand & the lower left-hand sections:

Part #1 – Upper Left-Hand Corner
Double L Quilt Block Diagram Part #2 is a for the Tutorial for the Free Pattern for 12" finished quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!
Part #2 – Lower Left-Hand Corner

Double L Quilt Block Diagram Part #3 is a for the Tutorial for the Free Pattern for 12" finished quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!
Part #3 – Upper Right-Hand Corner

Part #4 – Lower Left-Hand Corner

Next sew the left-hand side together followed by the right-hand side.
Finally sew the center of the quilt block together!
