Star Power: Star Shine Quilt Block & Star Shine Variation Quilt Block

Star Shine Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltDash.com!

Star Shine Quilt Block




Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Lt. Blue: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the White 4 1/4″ square & with the results of the the Dk. Blue 3 7/8″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
  • Dk. Blue: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Lt. Blue 4 1/4″ square & with the results of the White 4 1/4″ square. Which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 7 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Lt. Blue
    4 1/4″ square & with the results of the Dk. Blue 3 7/8″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the Blue
    3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)

(These are paired with the results of the Lilac 3 7/8″ squares & with the results of the White 3 7/8″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Violet: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 7 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Lilac 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Lt. Blue
    4 1/4″ square & with the results of the Dk. Blue 3 7/8″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
