Quilted Kitchen: Prickly Pear Quilt Block & Prickly Pear Syrup Recipe

Prickly Pear Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Prickly Pear Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Dk. Green: Cut FIVE (5) 2 7/8″ squares. (FOUR (4) of these squares are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. The remaining ONE (1) square is the center of this quilt block. It’s paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares. It’s also paired with the Green/White Half-Square Triangles. All sewn together they’ll create ONE (1) Nine-Patch in the center of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut SIX (6) 3 1/4″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 1/4″ squares which will create SIXTEEN (16) Half-Square Triangles. These help to create a “frame” around the center Nine-Patch of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/4″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 1/4″ squares which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. They’re then paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the Green 2 7/8″ square. All sewn together they’ll create ONE (1) Nine-Patch in the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Green 2 7/8″ square in the center of this quilt block. They’re also paired with the Green/White Half-Square Triangles. All sewn together they’ll create ONE (1) Nine-Patch in the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut SIX (6) 3 1/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Green 3 1/4″ squares which will create SIXTEEN (16) Half-Square Triangles. These help to create a “frame” around the center Nine-Patch of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Green 3 1/4″ squares which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. They’re then paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the Green 2 7/8″ square. All sewn together they’ll create ONE (1) Nine-Patch in the center of this quilt block.)
