Quilted Kitchen: Halloween Pumpkin Quilt Block & Halloween Pumpkin Bars Recipe

Halloween Pumpkin Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Halloween Pumpkin Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Green: Cut ONE (1) 1″ square. (This is the “stem” of the “Pumpkin.” It’s paired with the Green/Yellow Snowball Corner as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Green: Cut ONE (1) 1″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This square is paired with the Yellow 1″ square, which will create ONE (1) Snowball Corner, as needed to sew the “stem” of the “Pumpkin” together.)
  • Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 1″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This square is paired with the Green 1″ square, which will create ONE (1) Snowball Corner, as needed to sew the “stem” of the “Pumpkin” together.)
  • Yellow: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the results of the Orange 2 3/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 1 3/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the left & right bottom corners of the Orange 6 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ rectangle. Which will create TWO (2) Snowball Corners as needed to sew this quilt block together.
  • Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 1 1/2″ x 3 1/4″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Green 1″ square & the Green/Yellow Half-Square Triangle–the “Stem” of the “Pumpkin”–as needed to sew it together. They’re also the upper left-hand & the upper right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
  • Orange: Cut ONE (1) 1 3/4″ x 7 1/4″ rectangle. (This is paired with the Yellow 1 3/4″ squares which will create TWO (2) Snowball Corners. It’s the “Lid” of the “Pumpkin” as needed to sew it together.)
  • Orange: Cut ONE (1) 2 3/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the Yellow 1 5/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Orange: Cut ONE (1) 6 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ rectangle. (This is paired with the Yellow 1 7/8″ squares which will create TWO (2) Snowball Corners. It’s also paired with the results of the Orange
    2 3/4″ squares as needed to sew this quilt block together.)

Dublin Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Lt. Blue: Cut FIVE (5) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 1 7/8″ squares which will create ONE (1) Nine-Patch. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block when they’re sew together.)
  • Lt. Blue: Cut EIGHT (8) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 1 7/8″ squares. They’ll also be paired with the White 3 3/8″ x 4 3/8″ rectangles. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Lt. Blue: Cut TWELVE (12) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are flanked by the results of the Navy Blue
    2 1/8″ squares as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Navy Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the Lt. Blue
    1 7/8″ squares as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Navy Blue: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 1/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the White 3 3/8″ x 4 3/8″ rectangles, which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue 1 7/8″ squares which will create ONE (1) Nine-Patch. When sewn together they’ll also create the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue 1 7/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the White 3 3/8″ x 4 3/8″ rectangles. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Navy Blue 1 7/8″ squares as need to sew this quilt block together.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Lt. Blue: Cut TWO (2) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Green 2 1/2″ squares. They’re also paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares. When all sewn together they’ll create TWO (2) Nine-Patches. They’ll also be the upper left-hand & lower right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue 2 1/2″ squares. They’re also paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares. When all sewn together they’ll create TWO (2) Nine-Patches. They’ll also be the upper left-hand & lower right-hand corners of this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Lt. Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with the Blue 3 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also create the center of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)
  • Lt. Blue: Cut ONE (1) 6 7/8″ square. (This is paired with the White 3 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. This quilt block only needs ONE (1) of these Half-Square Triangles when it’s sewn together. It’ll also be the upper right-hand corner of this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. (This is paired with the Lt. Blue 3 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also create the center of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)

  • Peach: Cut TWO (2) 2 5/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 5/8″ squares which will create ONE (1) Four-Patch. When all sewn together they’ll create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Peach: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. (This is paired with the White 3 7/8″ square, which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Peach: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. Together with the results of the Peach 3 7/8″ square, they’ll create ONE (1) Square in a Square, as needed to sew it together.)
