Star Power: Idaho Star Quilt Block & Idaho Star Variation Quilt Block

Idaho Star Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Idaho Star Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Navy Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 1 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Navy Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/2″ x 3″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Navy Blue/White Half-Square Triangles. Then they’re paired with the Yellow 1 1/2″ x 5″ rectangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Red: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 1 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Red: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/2″ x 3″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Red/White Half-Square Triangles. Then they’re paired with the Yellow 1 1/2″ x 5″ rectangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Yellow: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/2″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Yellow 1 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ rectangles which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Yellow: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Yellow 1 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ rectangles, which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 1 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
  • Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 2 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the White 2 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Yellow: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/2″ x 5″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Navy Blue/White Half-Square Triangles & they’re paired with the Navy Blue 1 1/2″ x 3″ rectangles. They’re also paired with the Red/White Half-Square Triangles & they’re also paired with the Red 1 1/2″ x 3″ rectangles. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Navy Blue 1 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Red 1 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Yellow/White Quarter-Square Triangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 2 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Yellow
    2 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 4 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired on TWO (2) sides, with the Yellow 1 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ rectangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
