Twinkling Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 3/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles.)
- Green: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 2 3/8″ squares & they will also flank the results of the White 7 1/4″ square.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Green 2 3/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Green 3 7/8″ squares & they will also flank the results of the Green 2 3/8″ squares. They will also help create the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked on ONE (1) side by the results of the Green 3 7/8″ squares & they will be flanked on ONE (1) other side by the results of the Green 2 3/8″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)

If you make TWELVE (12) “Twinkling Star Quilt Blocks, you will end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.

- Salmon: Cut SIX (6) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 3/8″ squares, which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles.)
- Salmon: Cut TWELVE (12) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank on ONE (1) side the results of the White 2 3/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut SIX (6) 2 3/8″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Salmon 2 3/8″ squares, which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are flanked by the results of the Salmon 2 3/8″ squares. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked on ONE (1) side by the results of the Salmon 3 7/8″ squares & they will be flanked on ONE (1) other side by the results of the Salmon 2 3/8″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese as needed for this quilt block.)
