Quilted Kitchen: Arizona Quilt Block & Arizona Skillet Dinner Recipe

Arizona Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Arizona Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Dk. Blue: Cut EIGHT (8) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 1 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Four-Patches. Once they’re sewn together they’ll be flanked by the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Square in a Squares.)
  • Red: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re paired with the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares.)
  • Red: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
  • Red: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares.)
  • White: Cut EIGHT (8) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Dk. Blue 1 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Four-Patches. Once they’re sewn together they’ll be flanked by the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Square in a Squares.)
  • White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the Dk. Blue/White Four-Patches which will create FOUR (4) Square in a Squares once they’re all sewn together.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the Red 2 1/2″ squares in the corners of this quilt block.)

Double Pyramid Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Gold: Cut NINE (9) 2 1/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 1/8″ squares which will create EIGHTEEN (18) Half-Square Triangles.)
  • Gold: Cut NINE (9) 2 1/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Gold/White Half-Square Triangles.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/2″ squares. (These are the upper left-hand & the lower right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut THREE (3) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Gold/White Half-Square Triangles. They’re also paired with the results of the Gold 2 1/8″ squares.)
  • White: Cut NINE (9) 2 1/8″ squares.On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Gold 2 1/8″ squares which will create EIGHTEEN (18) Half-Square Triangles.)

Starlight Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Orange: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 3/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the Orange/Peach Quarter-Square Triangle in the center of this quilt block. Once all are sewn together they’ll create ONE (1) Nine-Patch.)
  • Orange: Cut ONE (1) 2 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Peach 2 7/8″ square which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle in the center of this quilt block.)
  • Peach: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 3/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the Orange/Peach Quarter-Square Triangle in the center of this quilt block. Once all are sewn together they’ll create ONE (1) Nine-Patch.)
  • Peach: Cut ONE (1) 2 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Orange 2 7/8″ square which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle in the center of this quilt block.)
  • Yellow: Cut SIX (6) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Gold 2 7/8″ squares which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Gold: Cut SIX (6) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Yellow 2 7/8″ squares which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Gold: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired on ONE (1) side with the Yellow/Gold Half-Square Triangles. Then they’re paired on ONE (1) other side with the White 3 3/8″ square.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 3/8″ squares. (These are paired on ONE (1) side with the Gold
    3 3/8″ squares. They’re also paired on ONE (1) other side with the Orange 3 3/8″ squares. In addition they’re paired with the results of the Gold 2 7/8″ squares.)

  • Lt. Blue: Cut ONE (1) 2 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Blue 2 7/8″ square which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle in the center of this quilt block.)
  • Lt. Green: Cut SIX (6) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Green 2 7/8″ squares which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Lt. Green: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the Green 2 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. Then they’re paired with the Green/Lt. Green Half-Square Triangles on TWO (2) sides. They’re also paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ square.)
  • Green: Cut SIX (6) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Lt. Green 2 7/8″ squares which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the results of the Green 5 1/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. They they’re paired on TWO (2) sides with the Green/Lt. Green Half-Square Triangles. They’re also paired on ONE (1) other side with the results of the White 5 1/4″ square.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired on ONE (1) side with the Blue 3 3/8″ squares. They’re also paired on ONE (1) other side with the Lt. Blue 3 3/8″ squares. In addition they’re paired with the Green/Lt. Green Flying Geese.)

  • Green: Cut ONE (1) 1 7/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s paired with the White 1 7/8″ squares. It’s also paired with the Red 1 7/8″ squares. Once they’re all sewn together they’ll create ONE (1) Nine-Patch in the center of this quilt block.)

  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Red 1 7/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the Green 1 7/8″ square that’s in the center of this quilt block. Once they’re all sewn together they’ll create ONE (1) Nine-Patch in the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (are paired with the White 1 7/8″ x 6 1/8″ rectangles. Which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. They’re also the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the Green 1 7/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ x 6 1/8″ rectangles. (These are paired with the White 1 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners.)
