“Harry and Alice” Block #2 Revealed!

I sure hope you’re following along and making my “Harry Loves Alice” 2019 block of the month (BOM) quilt from my sister site, BOMquilts.com!

It’s a great lesson in half-square triangles (HST’s) ! Whether you’re a beginning quilter, wanting to learn how to get more experience in piecing HST’s, this quilt is the perfect way to brush up on your skills. If you’re a more advanced quilter, there’s nothing easier than HST’s to whip up quickly and painlessly, so this quilt will go together rather quickly for you!

Block #2 – Girl’s Favorite

This is one of *my* favorite quilt blocks to make, too! 🙂 Especially with all of the different fabrics that come in the “Harry Loves Alice” fat quarter bundle from Abbi May’s Quilt Shop. Just look at the way the stars & flowers and blues & navy play off of each other! With that punch from the creamy, dreamy stars fabric thrown in to break up the tonals of the combination of fabrics. Makes my quilty heart just sing for joy!!!

It’s not to late to get started on your own “Harry Loves Alice” BOM quilt! Come on, you know you’re just itching to add a quick quilt block to your monthly agenda, I can tell you are waiting for just that! 🙂 Would love to have you join me in making this adorable lap quilt that you can call all your own!

Star Power: Summer Star Quilt Block & Summer Star Variation Quilt Block

Summer Star Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12â€³ finished block (scant 1/4â€³ seam allowance):

Mint Green: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square.
Mint Green: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ squares.
Mint Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/4″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These will be paired with FOUR (4) of the White 2 1/4â€³ squares to create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles for these portions of the quilt block.)
Green: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ squares.
Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 4 1/4″ squares for the Flying Geese portion of this quilt block.)
Green: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will be flanked by the the results of the White 2 1/4″ squares to create FOUR (4) Flying Geese portions of this quilt block.)
White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares.
White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares.
White: Cut EIGHT 2 1/4″ squares. (These will be paired with FOUR (4) of Mint Green 2 1/4â€³ squares and FOUR (4) of the Green 2 1/4″ squares to create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles for these portions of the quilt block.)
White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will be flanked by the the results of the Green 2 1/4″ squares to create FOUR (4) Flying Geese portions of this quilt block.)

If you make TWELVE (12) â€œSummer Star Quilt Blocks,â€ you will end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.

Teal: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares.
Teal: Cut Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/4″ squares. On the back side each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These will be paired with FOUR (4) of the White 2 1/4â€³ squares to create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles for this portion of the quilt block.)
Teal: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will be flanked by the results of FOUR (4) of the White 2 1/4″ squares to create FOUR (4) Flying Geese portions of this quilt block.)
