Devil’s Claw Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Brown: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Brown: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 7 1/4″ squares, and will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Brown: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. You only need TWO (2) of these triangles for this quilt block. (These are paired with the results of the White 7 1/4″ square, to create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle. This will also be the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Brown 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will be flanked by the results of the Brown 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)

Buh Bye Summer!

Quilt Therapy Posted on October 17, 2019 by TK HarrisonOctober 17, 2019

Unfortunately, we’ve had a couple of wet & chilly days here in south central Texas. Days where you just want to hunker down with a good book & wrap yourself up in a well-worn quilt for a quilty hug!

That’s what this month’s Quilt Dash’s free pattern is all about, “Summer Blues” is the name of it & I’m really sorry to see summer go. 🙁

This is one of those one-block quilt’s. You know the kind that I’m talking about, don’t you? You’ll need to make TWELVE (12) of the same block to make this beautiful quilt. I love these kinds of quilts because I can chain piece them so they sew together rather quickly!

"Summer Winds Quilt Block" the quilt block that's in the "Saying Goodbye to Summer" for the October 2019 Quilt Dash Free Pattern. Given to all Quilt Dash member's who complete the October 2019 Quilt Dash!“Summer Winds Quilt Block”

This is the one-block quilt that comprises the entirety of the “Summer Blues” free quilt pattern! It’s really quite simple to make, as long as you’re not afraid of making Half-Square triangles and Flying Geese! Then again, it *is* October, so you can be a skeerdy cat, if you wanna be! 🙂

"Saying Goodbye to Summer" the October 2019 Quilt Dash Free Pattern. Given to all Quilt Dash member's who complete the October 2019 Quilt Dash!“Summer Blues”

If you’re a Quilt Dash member, you already know what to do…so do it! Lickedy split!
If you’re not a Quilt Dash member & you’d like to become one, just click on this link. Then follow the instructions. The PDF, that’s available to anyone, explains all that you need to know as a member!

Because I have a feeling that ya’ll are going to want to make this quilt! Summertime, fall or just about anytime you feel like it! 🙂
