Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Orange: Cut THREE (3) 4 1/2″ squares. (These are flanked by the results of the Yellow 5″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 5″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the Orange 4 1/2″ squares, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. It’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 9″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These will be the upper left-hand corner & the lower right-hand corner of this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Light Blue: Cut TWO (2) 5″ squares. (These are paired with the White 5″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They will also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • Light Blue: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are flanked by the results of the White 3″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This will be the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 5″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Light Blue 5″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They will also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut EIGHT (8) 3″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Light Blue 5 1/4″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)

  • Black: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This will be flanked by the results of the White 5 1/4″ square, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. It’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut TWO (2) 5″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • Light Green: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Dark Green 5″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)

  • Gold: Cut ONE (1) 1 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangle. (This is paired with the Brown 1 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles & together they’ll be the center of this quilt block.)
  • Gold: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 1/2″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Light Blue 4 1/4″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
