Hidden Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Light Blue: Cut TWO (2) 5″ squares. (These are paired with the White 5″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They will also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- Light Blue: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are flanked by the results of the White 3″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This will be the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 5″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Light Blue 5″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They will also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut EIGHT (8) 3″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Light Blue 5 1/4″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)

If you make TWELVE (12) “Hidden Star Quilt Blocks,” you will end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
Hidden Star Variation Quilt Block

- White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This will be flanked by the results of the Turquoise 3″ squares, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. This will also be the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 5″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Turquoise 5″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
