Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Orange: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This will be the center of this quilt block.)
- Gold: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These will be flanked by the results of the Bright Orange 3″ squares & are paired with the results of the White 5″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- Gold: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Bright Orange 5 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Bright Orange: Cut FOUR (4) 3″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the Orange
2 1/2″ squares & are paired with the results of the White 5″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.) - Bright Orange: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Gold 5 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 5″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are flanked by the Gold 2 1/2″ squares & the results of the Bright Orange 3″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles.
