Flashback Tuesday: TT Pinkie Promise

Quilt Therapy Posted on May 20, 2014 by TK HarrisonMay 20, 2014

My mother-in-law just completed her Relay for Life booth this past weekend.  She is a breast cancer survivor, I believe this is her eighth year of being cancer free.  This quilt below was not made for her but was definitely made for all breast cancer survivors.

PinkiePromise

The pattern is timeless and it can be created as a baby quilt…or the pattern can be repeated for any larger size quilt.  It was a very simple quilt to make, even for beginners.  Let’s work to hold up all cancer patients (current or deceased) and their caregivers in prayer and praise, through our quilting!  You can find the free pattern here.

Flashback Tuesday: Love Knot

Quilt Therapy Posted on May 6, 2014 by TK HarrisonMay 5, 2014

As we approach our 22nd wedding anniversary, I’d say it is quite fitting that I share the table runner that I designed and made for our 15th wedding anniversary from BOMquilts.com!

Although I would suggest that a more-than-beginner create this beautiful table runner, it IS possible for a beginner to make it…as long as they closely follow the instructions.

It was a beautiful table runner that I gifted (over a year or two or five late) with the young lady who used to babysit our children.

Quilted Blessings!

Flashback Tuesday: TT 25 Days Until Christmas BOM Project from BOMquilts.com

Quilt Therapy Posted on April 29, 2014 by TK HarrisonApril 28, 2014

Again, it’s never too early to start planning your quilting projects for the holidays!  This is another 2007 six month block of the month quilt that was used as my “Christmas in July” special section on the BOMquilts.com website.  This vibrant quilt was a blast to make and it goes very quickly if you can cut all of your blocks out at once.  These are two examples of the blocks that go into this BOM quilt:

These types of patterns never go out of season – whether you make them with current or your stash fun fabrics or with Christmas fabrics.  Pull up your sewing machine and sit a spell with this quilt design!

Flashback Tuesday: Nine Patch Nirvana from BlockCentral.com

Quilt Therapy Posted on March 25, 2014 by TK HarrisonMarch 23, 2014

In 2006, I was pretty new to block of the month quilt process but decided to do two quilts out of a lovely pattern at BlockCentral.com named “Nine Patch Nirvana”.  I could make a nine patch.  I could sew on borders.  I even followed the pattern, which is funny as I change patterns all the time (mine and others’ patterns).  I was sure I had the skills needed to make that quilt.  Then, I visited with a dear friend and she wanted the same quilt design but with her chosen ‘beach’ colors.  So, instead of making one block a month, I made two.  And I must say, I am extremely pleased with the results.  My “Nine Patch Nirvana” is on the back of the sofa and is a beloved quilt for anyone who feels cold or sleeps on the sofa.

And here is my friend’s quilt, which turned out exactly as she wanted it to look:

That one quilt pattern and process began a passionate fire in me and the very next year, I designed my first block of the month quilt on my BOMquilts.com website!  It was a HUGE success with my website audience and made a good amount of money for the shop that sponsored it.

Do YOU enjoy block of the month quilts?
