Hard Candy Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (precise 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Pink:  Cut ONE (1) 3 3/4″ square.  On the back side of the square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.
  • Pink:  Cut ONE (1) 6 1/2″ square.
  • Light Yellow:  Cut TWO (2) 3 3/4″ squares.  On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.
  • Light Yellow:  Cut ONE (1) 3 3/4″ square.
  • Light Yellow:  Cut TWO (2) 3 1/2″ x 9 1/2″ strips.
  • Light Yellow:  Cut TWO (1) 3 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ strips.

French Silk Pie Quilt Block




Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (precise 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Beige:  Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/4″ squares.  Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.  You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square.
  • Beige:  Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square.
  • Beige:  Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square.
  • Tan:  Cut ONE (1) 4 3/4″ square.  Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2 times).  You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles.
  • Med. Brown:  Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares.
  • Med. Brown:  Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/4″ squares.  Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.  You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square.
  • Dark Brown:  Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ strips.

Using this image (above) as a guide, sew your French Silk Pie quilt block together as you would a basic Nine-Patch block, piecing each of the Nine-Patch’s squares together first.

Corn and Beans Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (precise 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Pink:  Cut THREE (3) 4 3/4″ squares.  Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time with each square.  You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square.
  • Pink:  Cut TEN (10) 2 3/4″ squares.  Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time with each square.  You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square.
  • Yellow:  Cut ONE (1) 4 3/4″ square.  Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.  You will end up with TWO (2) triangles.
  • Yellow:  Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/4″ squares.  Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time with each square.  You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square.
  • Green:  Cut Cut TWO (2) 2 3/4″ squares.  Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time with each square.  You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square.
  • Green:  Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square.  Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2 times).  You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles.

Don’t let the triangles intimidate you.  Piece the center section (outlined in blue above) together first, piece the corners next and then add the four corners to the center section.

  • Dark Red:  Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares.
  • Dark Red:  Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square.  Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2 times).  You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles.
  • Medium Red:  Cut TWO (2) 4 3/4″ squares.  Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time on each square.  You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square.
  • Medium Light Red:  Cut TWO (2) 4 3/4″ squares.  Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time on each square.  You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square.
  • Pink:  Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square.  Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2 times).  You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles.
  • Pink:  Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/4″ squares.  Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time on each square.  You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square.

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (precise 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Light Pink:  Cut SIXTEEN (16) 2 3/4″ squares.  Then cut a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time on each square.  You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square.
  • Light Pink:  Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ strips.
  • Red:  Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ strips.
  • Green:  Cut FOUR (4) 5 1/4″ squares.  Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2 times).  You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square.
  • Mauve:  Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square.
