Flashback Tuesday: Bittersweet Churning 2012 Block of the Month Quilt from BOMquilts.com

Quilt Therapy Posted on June 24, 2014 by TK HarrisonJune 22, 2014

Have you ever designed and made (or just made) a quilt where you felt, down deep in your soul, who the quilt was for…before ever choosing who to gift a quilt to?  This one was mine.  When I started it, I had no clue who I would gift or sell it to.  But once it was complete, I knew who should have it.

Ultimately, this is a quilt made of nine-patch blocks.  Each block is different and yet, each is the same.

Bittersweet Churning 2011 Block of the Month Quilt from BOMquilts.com

I gifted this quilt to my foster mother, when she came to winter with us in early 2013.  And to say that she loved it would be an understatement.  She was tickled, excited and felt beyond blessed that I gave her one of my quilted creations – from my quilted heart to hers.

It’s never too late to give a quilt of love to a special someone in your life!

Flashback Tuesday: Santorini Stars 2010 BOM Quilt designed by BOMquilts.com

Quilt Therapy Posted on June 17, 2014 by TK HarrisonJune 13, 2014

This quilt is one that I had the most fun making.  I *love* raw-edge applique and I designed and made the templates for my quilt using a pinking blade in my rotary cutter.  The instructions allow for other types of applique but most of our local little quilt group made this quilt with their own scrappy fabrics and colors and it was SO. MUCH. FUN. to see how different everyone’s finished out (you can see one here and a few more here)!  Not to mention that each block goes together very quickly, if you use raw-edge applique, because you just cut and sew using your own creativity!

I was a nanny to a baby 25-years-ago (eeeek!) and this was the quilt I gave her upon her college graduation.  I had intended to give her a completely different quilt when she graduated from high school…but, it didn’t fit with her personality.  THIS one spoke her name to me and she absolutely loves it!

Go on, have a little more quilt therapy fun and enjoy making this festive quilt!

Flashback Tuesday: Lovely Table Toppers

Quilt Therapy Posted on June 10, 2014 by TK HarrisonJune 9, 2014

I designed and made this trio of “Lovely” spring table toppers, with free patterns at BOMquilts.com, for a friend who wanted to use them to display her products at local craft shows.  I think they are sew very simple to make and if you made them with four different fabric sets, you could have one each for every season!

Flashback Tuesday: Butterfly Garden

Quilt Therapy Posted on June 3, 2014 by TK HarrisonJune 2, 2014

When I first friended Ellen Medlock, I believe she had just released her second line of fabrics.  I offered to design and make a quilt for her to sell kits for.  Butterfly Garden was the quilt I designed and made from her “Flight Pattern” fabric collection:

“Butterfly Garden” designed by TK Harrison for BOMquilts.com using Ellen Medlock’s “Flight Pattern” fabric line.

Ellen has had more fabric lines designed since this one…but this is the fabric that spoke to me the most.  Go ahead…take a step back in time and make this beautiful quilt out of ANY of Ellen’s fabrics!

Flashback Tuesday: TT Pinkie Promise

Quilt Therapy Posted on May 20, 2014 by TK HarrisonMay 20, 2014

My mother-in-law just completed her Relay for Life booth this past weekend.  She is a breast cancer survivor, I believe this is her eighth year of being cancer free.  This quilt below was not made for her but was definitely made for all breast cancer survivors.

PinkiePromise

The pattern is timeless and it can be created as a baby quilt…or the pattern can be repeated for any larger size quilt.  It was a very simple quilt to make, even for beginners.  Let’s work to hold up all cancer patients (current or deceased) and their caregivers in prayer and praise, through our quilting!  You can find the free pattern here.
