Broken Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Rust: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles will flank the White 3 1/2 square in the center of this quilt block. Which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
- Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These Triangles are paired with the results of the Peach 4 1/4″ squares. When sewn together they’ll flank the results of the White 7 1/4″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
- Peach: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles per square. (FOUR (4) of these triangles are paired with the results of the Peach 4 1/4″ squares. Then they’ll flank the results of the White 7 1/4″ square. Which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. All of these Peach triangles will also flank the results of the White 3 7/8″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) more Flying Geese.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This is flanked by the results of the Rust 4 1/4″ square. Which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the Peach 4 1/4″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the Yellow 34 1/4″ square. They’re also flanked by the results of the Peach 4 1/4″ square. All together they’ll create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)

- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
