Feathered Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Dk. Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the White
2 1/2″ square in the center of this quilt block.) - Aqua: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles will flank ONE (1) end of the Aqua 1 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ rectangles which will partially create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
- Aqua: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are paired on ONE (1) end with the Aqua 1 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ rectangles.)
- Aqua: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Jade 1 7/8″ x
3 3/8″ rectangles. They’re also paired on ONE (1) end with the results of the Aqua 3 1/4″ square.) - Jade: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles will flank ONE (1) end of the Jade 1 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ rectangles which will partially create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
- Jade: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are paired on ONE (1) end with the Jade 1 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ rectangles.)
- Jade: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Aqua 1 7/8″ x
3 3/8″ rectangles. They’re also paired on ONE (1) end with the results of the Jade 3 1/4″ square.) - White: Cut ONE (1) 2 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s paired with the FOUR (4) Dk. Blue 2 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ rectangles.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are flanked on ONE (1) side by the results of the Aqua 3 1/4″ square. They’re also flanked on ONE (1) other side by the results of the Jade 3 1/4″ square. Once sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re paired with the Aqua/Jade/White Flying Geese.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are paired on TWO (2) sides with the Dk. Blue 2 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ rectangles.)

Sew TWELVE (12) “Feathered Quilt Blocks” to end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished & 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
