Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Maroon: Cut ONE (1) 3 3/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the Lt. Blue 2 7/8″ squares which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
- Lt. Blue: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the Maroon 3 3/8″ square in the center of this quilt block. When sewn together they’ll create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
- Lt. Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These paired with the Gray 4 1/2″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners.
- Lt. Blue: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the White 4 1/2″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Gray: Cut FOUR (4) 4 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the Lt. Blue 2 7/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 4 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the Lt. Blue 2 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)

Sew TWELVE (12) “Chimney Quilt Blocks” to end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished & 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
