Dutch Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Red: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Navy Blue: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Flying Geese. FOUR (4) of these Flying Geese are the center of this quilt block as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the results of the Red 5 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the Navy Blue 5 1/4″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Flying Geese. FOUR (4) of these Flying Geese are the center of this quilt block as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangles. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)

Sew TWELVE (12) “Dutch Quilt Blocks” to end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished & 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
