Carson City Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Blue: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with the Green 4 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Red: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the White 3 3/8″ square which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
- Red: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Green
5 1/4″ square & with the results of the White 5 1/4″square. Which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles as needed for this quilt block.) - Green: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with the Blue 4 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. - White: Cut ONE (1) 3 3/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the Red 2 3/8″ squares.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Red 5 1/4″ square & with the results of the Green 5 1/4″ square. Which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles as needed for this quilt block.)
