Carson City Star Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

• Blue: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with the Green 4 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
• Red: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the White 3 3/8″ square which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
• Red: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Green
  5 1/4″ square & with the results of the White 5 1/4″square. Which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles as needed for this quilt block.)
• Green: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with the Blue 4 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
• Green: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. (These are paired with the results of the Red 5 1/4″ square & with the results of the White 5 1/4″ square. Which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles as needed for this quilt block.)
• White: Cut ONE (1) 3 3/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the Red 2 3/8″ squares.)
• White: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Red 5 1/4″ square & with the results of the Green 5 1/4″ square. Which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles as needed for this quilt block.)

• Blue: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ square.Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Green 5 1/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
• Red: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 3 3/8″ square. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)

You only need TWO (2) of these triangles for this part of this quilt block. (These are paired with the results of the Red 5 1/4″ square & with the results of the White 5 1/4″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles as needed for this quilt block.)
• Green: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square.
