Montgomery Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Lt. Green: Cut FOUR (4) 4 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the White 4 7/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.
- Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re flanked by the results of the White 3 1/4″ squares.)
- Green: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Lt. Green 4 1/2″ squares. They’ll also be paired with the results of the White 3 1/4″ squares which will help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Green: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These are paired with the White 1 7/8″ squares & the White 1 7/8″ x 4 1/2″ rectangle. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO 1 7/8″ squares. On the back side, draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the White 1 7/8″ x 4 1/2″ rectangle which will create TWO (2) Snowball Corners. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) White 1 7/8″ x 4 1/2″ rectangle. (This is paired with the results of the White 1 7/8″ squares which will create TWO (2) Snowball Corners. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares.Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Lt. Green 4 1/2″ squares. They’ll also be flanked by the results of the White 3 1/4″ squares. Which will help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the Green 3 1/4″ squares & the results of the White 4 7/8″ squares. They’ll also help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)

If you make TWELVE (12) “Montgomery Quilt Blocks,” you’ll end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
