Sparkling Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Lilac: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ squares. (FOUR (4) of these squares are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. The remaining FOUR (4) squares are flanked by the results of the Purple 2 3/8″ squares & will help create the center of this quilt block.)
- Mint Green: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are flanked by the results of the White 4 1/4″ square, as well as the results of the Purple 2 3/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese for this quilt block.)
- Purple: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the Lilac 2″ squares then they’re paired with results of the White 3 3/8″ squares to help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Purple: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 4 1/4″ square, as well as the results of the Mint Green 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese for this quilt block.)
- Purple: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are flanked by the Lilac 2″ squares. - White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the Purple 2 3/8″ squares.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Purple 2 3/8″ squares, as well as the results of the White 4 1/4″ squares. They’re also flanking the Mint Green 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the Mint Green
3 7/8″ squares. They’ll also be flanked by the results of the Purple 2 3/8″ squares & they’ll help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.) - White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Purple 2 3/8″ squares, as well as the results of the next White 4 1/4″ square & the results of the White 2 3/8″ squares. All together they’ll create FOUR (4) Flying Geese for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the Purple 2 3/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. - Peach: Cut TWELVE (12) 2″ squares. (FOUR (4) of these will be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block they’ll also be flanked by the results of the Blue 2 3/8″ squares. Another FOUR (4) of these will be flanked by the Lt. Blue 2 3/8″ squares & will help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. The final FOUR (4) of these are flanked by the Lt. Blue 2 3/8″ squares & will help to create the center of this quilt block.)
- Lt. Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. On the back side, draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Blue 2 3/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Lt. Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 4 1/4″ square. They’ll then be flanked by the results of the White 2 3/8″ squares & the Blue 3 7/8″ squares. All of them together will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese for this quilt block.)

(These are flanked by the results of the White 4 1/4″ squares, as well as the Lt. Blue 2 3/8″ squares & the White 2 3/8″ squares. All of them together will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese as needed for this quilt block.)
