Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Aqua: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. (These are flanked on TWO (2) sides by the results of the White 2 3/8″ squares & on the other TWO (2) sides they’re flanked by the results of the White
3 7/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block. - Aqua: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the White
2 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.) - Purple: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re flanked by the results of the White 3 7/8″ squares.)
- Purple: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the White
3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.) - White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the White 2 3/8″ squares.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Blue 4 1/4″ square which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Purple 7 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)

Double Star Variation Quilt Block

- Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
- Yellow: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 4 1/4″ square which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
- Salmon: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Salmon: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 7 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the White 4 1/4″ square.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 2 3/8″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Yellow 2 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Salmon 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the Yellow
