Double Star Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

• Aqua: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. (These are flanked on TWO (2) sides by the results of the White 2 3/8″ squares & on the other TWO (2) sides they’re flanked by the results of the White
  3 7/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.
• Aqua: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the White
  2 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
• Purple: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re flanked by the results of the White 3 7/8″ squares.)
• Purple: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the White
  3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
• White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the White 2 3/8″ squares.)
• White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE  (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Blue 4 1/4″ square which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
• White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE  (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Purple 7 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)

If you make TWELVE (12) “Double Star Quilt Blocks,” you’ll end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.

• Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
• Yellow: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE  (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 4 1/4″ square which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
• Salmon: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
• Salmon: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE  (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 7 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
• White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the White 4 1/4″ square.)
• White: Cut TWO (2) 2 3/8″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Yellow 2 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
• White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Salmon 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
• White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the Yellow
  2 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
• White: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the Salmon
  3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
