Windmill Star Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

• Lt. Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the Lt. Blue 2 7/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
• Lt. Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Blue 2 7/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles will be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
• Lt. Blue: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with White 4 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
• Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue 2 7/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles will be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
• Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the results of the Blue
  2 7/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.
• White: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with Lt. Blue 4 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)

If you make TWELVE (12) “Windmill Star Quilt Blocks,” you’ll end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.

• Lt. Gray: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ square & with the results of the Lt. Sage Green 4 7/8″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
• White: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Lt. Sage Green 5 1/4″ square & with the results of the Lt. Gray 5 1/4″ square. Which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
• Lt. Sage Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.
