Star Power: Morning Star Quilt Block & Morning Star Variation Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Teal: Cut TWO (2) 5″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the White 3″ squares & the Aqua 2 1/2″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ square & the results of the Aqua 5 1/4″ square. Which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Aqua: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the White 3″ squares & the results of the Teal 5″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- Aqua: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the White 3″ squares & the results of the Teal 5″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Aqua 2 1/2″ squares & the results of the Teal 5″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. Morning Star Variation Quilt Block

- Dark Purple: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the White 3″ squares & then with the results of the Lilac 5″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They will also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- Lilac: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. You only need TWO (2) of these triangles for this quilt block. (These are paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ square, which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle. It’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
- Lilac: Cut TWO (2) 5″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the White 3″ squares & then with the Dark Purple 2 1/2″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They will also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- Light Purple: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
