Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Red: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ strips. (These will be paired with the White 1 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ strips as needed for this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut FIVE (5) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will flank the White 2 1/2″ squares, which will create FIVE (5) Square in a Square’s, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FIVE (5) 2 1/2″ squares. (These will be flanked by the results of the Blue 3 1/2″ squares, which will create FIVE (5) Square in a Square’s, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ strips. (These will be paired with the Red 1 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ strips as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 6 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)

If you make TWELVE (12) “Five Squares Quilt Blocks,” you will end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
