Quilted Kitchen: Buffalo Ridge Quilt Block & Buffalo Wings Recipe
Buffalo Ridge Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Maroon: Cut TWELVE (12) 2″ squares. (These will be flanked by the results of the Yellow 2 1/4″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
- Maroon: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. (This will be the center of this quilt block.)
- Yellow: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ x 4 7/8″ strips. (These will flank the Maroon 3 7/8″ square, on all FOUR (4) sides, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Yellow: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the Maroon 2″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 3/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Yellow 2 1/4″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
Buffalo Ridge Quilt Block
The best way to sew this quilt block together is to treat it as you would a Nine-Patch quilt
block. Begin by sewing the FOUR (4) corner sections together. Then sew TWO (2) of the
corner sections to the left & right of the center strip. Repeat this for the remaining
TWO (2) corner sections. Next sew the center strips to the center square. Finally, sew the top &
bottom strips to the center strip!
Buffalo Ridge Quilt
If you make TWELVE (12) “Buffalo Ridge Quilt Blocks,” you will end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
