Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Navy Blue: Cut EIGHT (8) 1 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangles. (These will be the upper and lower “frames” for the Red 2 1/2″ squares in the centers of this quilt block.)
- Navy Blue: Cut EIGHT (8) 1 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These will be the left and right “frames” for the Red 2 1/2″ squares in the centers of this quilt block.)
- Red: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These will be flanked by the Navy Blue 1 1/2 x 2 1/2″ rectangles, as well as the Navy Blue 1 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles, to create the center of this quilt block.)
- Red: Cut TWELVE (12) 1 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the White 1 1/2″ squares to create the border on TWO (2) sides of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ELEVEN 1 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Red 1 1/2″ squares to create the border on TWO (2) sides of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut SIX (6) 1 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These will flank the Blue 1 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles to create an additional “frame” around the centers of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut THREE (3) 1 1/2″ x 11 1/2″ rectangles. (These will be the vertical strips that will “frame” the centers of the quilt block. ONE (1) of these 1 1/2″ x 11 1/2″ rectangles will also be the right-hand outside border of this quilt block.)

If you make TWELVE (12) “Red, White & Blue Quilt Blocks,” you will end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
