Crown Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2″ squares & the Blue 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles. Which will create FOUR (4) Mini-Log Cabins as needed for this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the White 2″ squares & the Blue 2 1/2″ squares to create FOUR (4) Mini-Log Cabins as needed for this quilt block.)
- Green: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 3 7/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
- Dark Pink: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’ll be flanked by the results of the White 4 1/4″ square which will create ONE (1) Square in the Square.)
- Dark Pink: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 4 1/4″ square as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the Blue 2″ squares & the Blue 2″ x
3 1/2″ rectangles to create FOUR (4) Mini-Log Cabins as needed for this quilt block.) - White: Cut SIX (6) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are flanked by the results of the Green 4 1/4″ squares & by the results of the Dark Pink 4 1/4″ Squares. They’re also the FOUR (4) corner’s of quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will flank the Dark Pink 3 1/2″ square which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)

If you make TWELVE (12) “Crown Star Quilt Blocks,” you will end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
Crown Star Variation Quilt Block

- Lime Green: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the Yellow 2″ squares & the White 2″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Four-Patch blocks as needed for this quilt block.)
- Purple: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’ll be flanked by the results of the White 4 1/4″ square which will create ONE (1) Square in the Square.)
- Purple: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 4 1/4″ square as is needed for this quilt block.)
- Yellow: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the Yellow 2″ squares & the White 2″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Four-Patch blocks as needed for this quilt block.)
- Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the the results of the White 3 7/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the Yellow 2″ squares & the Lime Green 2″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Four-Patch blocks as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut SIX (6) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will be flanked by the results of the Yellow 4 1/4″ squares. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the Dark Purple
