Gotham Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Dark Gray: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ x 5 3/8″ rectangles. (Each ONE (1) of these rectangles is paired with FOUR (4) White 2 3/8″ squares, which will create SIXTEEN (16) Snowball Corners, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Dark Gray: Cut TWO (2) 5 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 5 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut SIXTEEN (16) 2 3/8″ squares. On the back side of the square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Dark Gray 3 1/2″ x 5 3/8″ rectangles, which will create the SIXTEEN (16) Snowball Corners, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 5 3/8″ squares. On the back side of the square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Dark Gray 5 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)

If you make TWELVE (12) “Gotham Star Quilt Blocks,” you will end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
Gotham Star Variation Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Lt. Gray: Cut TWO (2) 5 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 5 3/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the Brown 2″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
- Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 3/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Brown: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the Pink 2″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
- Brown: Cut TWO (2) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 3/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This will be used for the center of the quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 5 3/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Lt. Gray 5 3/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Pink 2 3/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
