Beacon Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Purple: Cut ONE (1) 4 3/4″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
- Purple: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank both sides of the results of the White 4 1/4″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
- Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 2/4″ rectangles. (These will create a “frame” around the center Purple 4 3/4″ square.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are the cornerstones for the “frame” around the center Purple 4 3/4″ square.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the Pink 3 1/2″ squares which are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)

If you make TWELVE (12) “Beacon Quilt Blocks,” you’ll end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
