Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Brown: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This is flanked by the results of the White 5 1/4″ square. Which will create the Square in a Square #1. It’s also the center of this quilt block.)

- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These are flanked by the results of the Brown 2 7/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)

- White: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These will flank the Brown 4 1/2″ square to create the Square in a Square #1. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
