Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Aqua: Cut SIXTEEN (16) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are flanked by the results of the White 1 7/8″ squares which will create SIXTEEN (26) Square in a Squares. FOUR (4) of these Square in a Squares are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Aqua: Cut SIXTEEN (16) 1 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with each of the Square in a Squares, as well as the White 1 1/2″ squares, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Aqua: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the White 2 1/2″ square that’s at the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 2 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s paired with the Aqua 2 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ rectangles.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Aqua 1 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangles.)
- White: Cut THIRTY-TWO (32) 1 7/8″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the Aqua 1 7/8″ squares which will create SIXTEEN (26) Square in a Squares. FOUR (4) of these Square in a Squares are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)

If you make TWELVE (12) “Texas Two Step Quilt Blocks,” you’ll end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
