Stacked Stars Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (precise 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Yellow: Cut FOUR 2 5/8″ squares. Then cut each square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (FOUR (4) of these will flank the results of the White 4 5/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. The other FOUR (4) of these will flank the results of the Purple 4 5/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) additional Flying Geese for this quilt block.)
- Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 4 5/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (TWO (2) of these will be flanked by the results of the White 2 5/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. The other FOUR (4) of these will be flanked by the results of the Purple 2 5/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) additional Flying Geese for this quilt block.)
- Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are flanked on TWO (2) sides by the results of the Yellow 4 5/8″ squares & on the other TWO (2) sides by the results of the Yellow 2 5/8″ squares, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Purple: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 1/4″ squares. (FOUR (4) of these are the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block. The remaining FOUR (4) of these are the outside center’s of this quilt block.)
- Purple: Cut FOUR 2 5/8″ squares. Then cut each square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (FOUR (4) of these will flank the results of the White 4 5/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. The other FOUR (4) of these will flank the results of the Yellow 4 5/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) additional Flying Geese for this quilt block.)
- Purple: Cut ONE (1) 4 5/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (TWO (2) of these will be flanked by the results of the White 2 5/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. The other FOUR (4) of these will be flanked by the results of the Yellow 2 5/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) additional Flying Geese for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 2 1/4″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR 2 5/8″ squares. Then cut each square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (FOUR (4) of these will flank the results of the Purple 4 5/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. The other FOUR (4) of these will flank the results of the Yellow 4 5/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) additional Flying Geese for this quilt block.)

The remaining FOUR (4) of these will flank the results of the White 4 5/8″ square, which will create FOUR (4) additional Flying Geese for this quilt block.)
- Pink: Cut ONE (1) 4 5/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (TWO (2) of these will be flanked by the results of the Pink 2 5/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. The remaining TWO (2) of these will be flanked by the results of the Gray 2 5/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) additional Flying Geese for this quilt block.)
- Pink: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are flanked by the results of the White 2 5/8″ squares, which will create TWO (2) Square in a Square’s, for this quilt block.)
- Gray: Cut NINE (9) 2 1/4″ squares. (ONE (1) of these will be the center of this quilt block. FOUR (4) of these are the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block. The remaining FOUR (4) of these are the outside center’s of this quilt block.)
- Gray: Cut FOUR 2 5/8″ squares. Then cut each square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (FOUR (4) of these will flank the results of the Pink 4 5/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. The remaining FOUR (4) of these will flank the results of the White 4 5/8″ squares, which will create an additional FOUR (4) Flying Geese for this quilt block.)
