Chip Basket Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Lt. Peach: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/4″ square. (This is paired with a White 3 1/4″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. You only need ONE (1) of these Half-Square Triangles for this quilt block. It’s also the upper left-hand corner of this quilt block.)
- Peach: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/4″ square. (This is paired with a White 3 1/4″ square, which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Rust: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/4″ squares. (These are paired with TWO (2) White 3 1/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. You only need THREE (3) of these Half-Square Triangles for this quilt block.)
- Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/4″ squares. (These are paired with TWO (2) White 3 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Tan: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the White 5 5/8″ squares. They’ll also help create the lower right-hand corner of this quilt block.)
- Tan: Cut ONE (1) 8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles. You only need ONE (1) of these triangles for this quilt block. (This is flanked by the results of the White 3 1/4″ squares. It’s the “basket” part of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/4″ square. On the back side draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with a Lt. Peach 3 1/4″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. You only need ONE (1) of these Half-Square Triangles for this quilt block. It’s also the upper left-hand corner of this quilt block
- White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/4″ square. On the back side draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with a Peach 3 1/4″ square, which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/4″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with TWO (2) Rust 3 1/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. You only need THREE (3) of these Half-Square Triangles for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/4″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with TWO (2) Yellow 3 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut THREE (3) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. You only need THREE (3) of these triangles for this quilt block. (These will flank the results of the Yellow 3 1/4″ squares on ONE (1) side & on ONE (1) other side they’ll flank the results of the Tan 8″ square. As needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 2 3/4″ x 7 3/4″ rectangles. (ONE (1) of these is the upper right-hand corner & side of this quilt block. The other ONE (1) of these is the lower left-hand bottom & corner of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 5 /8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. You only need ONE (1) of these triangles for this quilt block.
