Spokane Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Gold: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are flanked by the results of the Red 3 1/4″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Flying Geese.)
- Red: Cut ONE (1) 3 3/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s paired with the White 1 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ rectangles.)
- Red: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired on ONE (1) end with the results of the Red 3 1/4″ square. They’re also paired on TWO (2) sides with the results of the White 3 7/8″ squares.)
- Red: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are paired on ONE (1) side with the results of the Red 2 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles. They’re also paired on the other TWO (2) sides with the White 1 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ rectangles.)
- Red: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired on TWO (2) sides with the White 2 1/2″ squares in the corners of this quilt block. They’re also paired with the Gold/Red Flying Geese.)
- Red: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the results of the Gold 2 7/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Flying Geese.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re paired with the results of the Red 3 1/4″ squares.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ rectangles. (These are paired on TWO (2) sides by the results of the Red 3 1/4″ squares. They’re also paired on ONE (1) other side with the Red 3 3/8″ square in the center of this quilt block. In addition they’re paired on another ONE (1) side with the Gold/Red Flying Geese.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the Red 2 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles.)

- Sea Green: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are paired on ONE (1) side with the results of the Sea Green 2 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles. They’re also paired on the other TWO (2) sides with the White 1 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ rectangles.)
