Darting Birds Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
- Orange: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/2″ squares. (These are paired on TWO (2) sides with the Yellow 4 1/2″ square that’s in the center of this quilt block. They’re also paired on ONE (1) other side with the Red 4 1/2″ square that’s in the upper left-hand corner of this quilt block. Once sewn together they’ll create ONE (1) Four-Patch.)
- Red: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/2″ squares. (These are the upper left-hand & the lower right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
- Red: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 4 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. TWO (2) of these Half-Square Triangles will be the lower left-hand & the upper right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Red 4 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. TWO (2) of these Half-Square Triangles will be the lower left-hand & the upper right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
