Swing Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Yellow: Cut FOUR (4) 3 3/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Blue 6 3/8″ square which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
- Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It is paired with the Lt. Blue 3 7/8″ squares.)
- Lt. Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Yellow 3 7/8″ square in the center of this quilt block. They are also paired with the results of the Blue 6 3/8″ squares.)
- Teal: Cut FOUR (4) 3 3/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the Yellow/Blue Flying Geese.)
- Blue: Cut ONE (1) 6 3/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the Yellow 3 3/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
- Blue: Cut ONE (1) 6 3/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the Lt. Blue
3 7/8″ squares in the center of this quilt block.) - White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. They will also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. They will also help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)

Sew TWELVE (12) “Swing Star Quilt Blocks” to end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished & 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
Swing Star Variation Quilt Block

- Lt. Blue: Cut ONE (1) 6 3/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the Blue
3 7/8″ squares in the center of this quilt block.) - Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Square in a Square in the center of this quilt block. They are also paired with the results of the Lt. Blue 6 3/8″ square.)
- Teal: Cut FOUR (4) 3 3/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the Yellow/Blue Flying Geese.)
