The most challenging part of this quilt block isn’t sewing it together. Oh, no! It’s cutting out the “Cherry Bomb – Color #3” quilt fabric (if you purchased the “Midnight Stargazer” quilt kit from AbbiMays.com). I say this because the same fabric’s used in the first quilt block of this pattern. The “Chained Star” quilt block.

Block #2 – Part #2 of the Midnight Stargazer 2020 BOM Quilt

This block *is* the most difficult one of all six of them to sew together! Which is why the pattern’s been revealed in two separate parts. The April pattern included the cutting instructions & the first part of sewing the “Stockyard Star” quilt block together.
This month’s pattern will complete the “Stockyard Star” quilt block construction!




But once it’s sewn together, you’ll see what I’m talking about, when I said all of those adjectives above 🙂 ! The black background fabric brings out the beauty of the ombré fabrics, that go into making each & every quilt block.

Can you see now why the entire quilt is so amazing, beautiful, wonderful, eye-popping, luscious, astonishing, astounding, awesome, breathtaking, fabulous & spectacular quilt 🙂 ?




It’s partially because of the ombré fabrics that go into making each & every quilt block. Like the one shown above. The different shades of red & yellow are because of the blending of one color hue to another. Usually moving tints & shades from light to dark. The other reason why it’s all of those adjectives is because that’s the way that I designed it! I wanted to bring out those ombré fabrics, in the best way I could, by sewing them together with black fabric.

As has been, for the past seven or eight years, Abbi May’s Fabric Shop’s sponsoring my block of the month quilt. She only has a couple of “Midnight Stargazer” quilt kits left in her shop. The second part of the pattern has been published!




It’s a very important part of the pattern, too.
There are 29 different fabrics, that make up this quilt top & without this second part you’ll be completely lost! Because it names & assigns numbers to each & every fabric that’s in this quilt top.

Here’s just a sample of some of the fabric colors:

See what I mean? Without the second part of the “Midnight Stargazer” 2020 BOM quilt pattern, you’re going to get lost & we don’t want that to happen. Then what would you do?
