Maggie’s Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Mint Green: Cut TWO (2) 5 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the Green 3 1/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the results of the Purple
5 3/8″ squares.) - Green: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s paired with the results of the Purple 4 3/8″ squares.)
- Green: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/8″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the Mint Green 5 3/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the results of the Purple 5 3/8″ squares.)
- Purple: Cut TWO (2) 4 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the Green 3 7/8″ square in the center of this quilt block. They’re also paired with the White 3″ squares.)
- Purple: Cut TWO (2) 5 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the Green 3 1/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the results of the Mint Green 5 3/8″ squares. In addition they’re paired with the results of the White 5 3/8″ squares.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of the “Star in the Center” of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 4″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 4 3/8″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles per square.(These triangles are paired with the results of the Purple 4 3/8″ squares in the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 5 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Green 3 1/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the results of the Purple 5 3/8″ squares.)

Maggie’s Star Variation Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Lt. Blue: Cut ONE (1) 4 3/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles will flank the Blue 3″ square in the center of this quilt block. Which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
- Lt. Blue: Cut TWO (2) 5 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the Blue 3 1/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the results of the Pink
5 3/8″ squares.) - Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the Lt. Blue 4 3/8″ square which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
- Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/8″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the Lt. Blue
5 3/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the results of the Pink 5 3/8″ squares.) - Pink: Cut TWO (2) 4 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Lt. Blue 4 3/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the results of the White 4 3/8″ squares.)
- Pink: Cut TWO (2) 5 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the Blue 3 1/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the results of the Lt. Blue 5 3/8″ squares. In addition they’re paired with the results of the White 5 3/8″ squares.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of the “Star in the Center” of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 4″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
