Bright Stars Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (a scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut SIXTEEN (16) 2 1/4″ squares. Then draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, on the back side of each square. (These are paired with the Orange 2 1/4″ squares, which will create THIRTY-TWO (32), Half-Square Triangles.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ x 3 1/2″ strips.
- Orange: Cut SIXTEEN (16) 2 1/4″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 1/4″ squares, which will create THIRTY-TWO (32), Half-Square Triangles.)
- Violet: Cut FIVE (5) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the centers of each of the Half-Square Triangles & ONE (1) of them is also the center of this quilt block.)

Bright Stars Variation Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (a scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TEN (10) 2 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the Blue 2 1/2″ squares, to create FIVE (5) Square in a Squares.)
- White: Cut SIXTEEN (16) 2 1/4″ squares. Then draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, on the back side of each square. (These are paired with the Yellow 2 1/4″ squares, which will create THIRTY-TWO (32), Half-Square Triangles.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles.
- Yellow: Cut SIXTEEN (16) 2 1/4″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 1/4″ squares, which will create THIRTY-TWO (32), Half-Square Triangles.)
- Blue: Cut FIVE (5) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are flanked by the results of the White 2 1/4″ squares, which will create FIVE (5) Square in a Squares.)
